- Usually no. Mattresses can often be treated and then encased; discarding furniture can actually spread bed bugs through a building.If an item is discarded, it should be sealed or clearly marked so no one else takes it, and removed in a way that does not shed bugs along hallways.
- How soon should I act after seeing one bed bug?
- Immediately. A single female can lay eggs daily, so early inspection is far less disruptive than treating an established, spread-out infestation.
- Can bed bugs move between apartment or condo units?
- They can travel along wall voids, plumbing and electrical penetrations, and shared corridors, so adjoining or stacked units may need inspection depending on what the evidence and building layout show.In multifamily and hospitality settings, treating one unit in isolation can allow an infestation to reappear, so the appropriate inspection scope is determined by what is found.
- Do you use heat treatment for bed bugs?

- Can I stay in the home during treatment?

- Should I throw out my mattress?
- Usually not. Discarding furniture rarely resolves an infestation and can spread it through the home on the way out. Wait until after inspection before removing anything.
- I have bites but have not seen a bug. Is it bed bugs?
